The most important attribute of a male is his pride. If you have no pride, you can not call yourself a real man! This kind of thinking is no longer applicable now, in a world obsessed only with money and power. The males in our days step onto their pride in order to obtain other benefits! We have lost the way of nature, we became clones in a world driven by social interest!
However, this is happening mostly in the occident. The oriental world managed to preserve it's culture much better, demonstrating yet another time that a culture founded on fast food can't endure time. The Orient is a source for traditions that charm the vulgarized occidental world. But there are few occidentals that try to really understand the meaning of tradition in the Orient. The public is consternated when facing these traditions, because we simply do not want to understand their way of life, their philosophy. We fly at the conceptual borders, but fear to land and really get to know the hidden mechanisms that rule their world.
Let's take for example the life of a geisha. The occidental most often classifies the geisha as being a prostitute. We do not know the hard work a girl had to complete in order to become a geisha. We do not understand that a geisha was not a sexual object, but more of a companion, trained to make different male characters feel good and understood. Perhaps is difficult for an occidental to understand that a real man doesn't want sexual engagement, but understanding, attention. He wants to be served, to have a person focalized only on him, even if it is only for such a short period. A geisha lived, in the old days, only to make her danna (sponsor in Japanese) happy. The hole meaning of a geisha's life was the smiles on the faces of those whom she entertained. She trained since childhood especially for this. The hole philosophy of a geisha's life is making men happy...
In the Orient, this is was a fair bargain. Money against youth. And we, in our profound monetary world, should not get all scandalized about that. The geisha loved to be in the center of the attention, loved the power she had over the men that surrounded her. With one wink, she could determine a destiny. This was the wonderful power entrapped in the world of the geisha... And it was not so bad for the men also... In exchange of the money, they received attention, they had the illusion of power. For a few hours, maybe even longer if they became danna, the men felt like kings, blessed with the attention from such a wonderful being. It is not easy to understand this society, but, as men, every one of us likes to be spoiled, to have someone listen to every word that we are saying. We like to feel like gods, we like to dream that we have power over people around us. And, although money brings power, there is no greater satisfaction then to know that someone lives only to please you. And yes, maybe this is all an illusion, but in those moments, you do not think philosophical at all... We enjoy the ride and abandon yourself in the company of a wonder of society - a real entertainer...
Sadly, in our days, real geisha's are nothing more than a good memory. Capitalism has destroyed the values that were once held high in all the oriental countries. Now we can really speak about prostitution, now we can speak of sex for money. Before this there was love for money, understanding and many, many other simple pleasures... Pleasures that today can't be bought with all the money in this world...!
