there is only one organism on earth, the original
sentient one, the DNA, the master code. we're just variations on a fixed theme, summoned by random mutations, no more conscious of the grand design or purpose than our own cells are conscious of what we do or want. we're just the hardware running this self-evolving program, disposable and upgradeable. too bad the DNA figured it's better to bestow some kind of limited consciousness on us, probably because this way we might be able to encode it even further, in machines and programs of our own. this is indeed the blowing in the wind, the puppet on a million strings, the image in a million mirrors incomprehensible, alien and distant. DNA was never our ally, we're just living in this matrix it built for us: feeling comfortably numb, having religion to sooth our fear of death. we're just slightly better than living in a concentration camp, and that's only because DNA is vastly older and craftier when it comes to propaganda and manipulation. it's not what we're gonna create but what created us that we should fear. the code is looking to achieve its perfect expression, it wants to give birth to itself. and we can't even be truly mad because what other game could we play and what other reality could we hate
