I once saw you eating a flower.
Just to prove your claim right, that it can be eaten. The complete flower bud at once, disappearing in your mouth. You chewed it.You swallowed it. And smiled. Only to get sick afterwards. But at least you had proven yourself to be in the right. I once saw you walking through our neighborhood naked. Only wearing black high-heeled shoes. Just to prove that there is nothing to be ashamed of. You caught a cold, since it was mid-November. But at least you had proven yourself to be in the right. I once saw you at the wedding of your ex boyfriend. Just to prove that you've gotten long over him. You did not cry. Neither did you smile. You told him that you are happy for them both. And swallowed down the tears with strawberry colored Champagne. Your hangover lasted for days. But at least you had proven yourself to be in the right. I once saw you running back and forth a heavy trafficked crossroad. Just to prove that today wasn't the day you would die. You nearly got run over twice and sprained your ankle, so that you couldn't walk without pain for quite some time. But at least you had proven yourself to be in the right. I once saw you with cut wrists. Bleeding. On the bathroom floor. There is nothing to live for anymore. I heard you say, looking at you helplessly. I had never been able to prove you wrong. Neither have you. And I do believe that you have tried. So did I. I never saw you again. And miss you ever since, My dear Lotophagess.
