I am lying against two pillars
They are old Cracking and stammering Under my weight Under my youth They are dying. And I can’t help it. I dreamt the other night That She had indeed begun to die And neither He nor I Knew what to do So we just watched And when we couldn’t bear The sight of her white swollen body Anymore We just left. All of us- we are nothing Nothing but a game of dominoes Death always wins. I’m resting against Two old pieces of wood Soon they will falter And crush to the ground And melt. And I will be myself a little closer To the unbearable ultimate duty Of dying. It is undoubtedly so That we will never know The beauty of eternity Or if there is any To be found in it At all.
