Dreamt Lena in my window
Heavily laden she ignited the curtains I woke up Then saw the bad news She has lost her granddad I have lost my uncle My auntie lost her husband I have seen from my window In the distant mountains; Have lost the twilight My soul clenched In that sadness of mine that you know Terrified of what one whispers Flame in thy hearts despite the rain Who else was there? Sometimes my pen Burns between my fingers My eyes stung until they soaked My face And sat awake all night I cannot open you like a newspaper Or put you down as a book.
