To live a soul’s morning’s as if
though captive in the fog you saw the sun still shining bright within yourself, deep in your heart, its vital force pervading you, feeding your love for life your feeling of communion with each and all around The sunlight shaded by a heavy cloud – is but a veil you have to draw apart Ignore it. Or, rather, throw it into night – the night of time. Then you may say: I have once more come out from the night of my soul The sunlight shaded by the clouds is no more than a lonely thought stopped right above your heart or winding through your mind as through the coils of time – you take it for a tunnel which is, you think, outside until your eyes get used to dark, until you see it is only a veil that makes your soul go numb Tear it off ! Indeed the sky is sometimes overcast, but don’t forget that neither shade, nor clouds can last. translated from Romanian by Roxana Alexandrescu, [email protected]
