IMPORTANT: Read ranting of a madman first!
( click my name, then Ranting of a Madman) And thus our story begins well before recorded time, in times lost or perhaps erased from history. These were the last words of Eliphas, the bearer of “truth”. Moments later the mob around him acclaimed as the guillotine went down and severed his head. The emperor thought this would be the end of it, but he was wrong, oh so very wrong. This was the beginning of the end, for Eliphas was not alone in his madness, his death might have been the end of him, but it only served to make him a martyr to his followers. Even though the cult was banned in the empire, attending meetings punishable by death, many people still joined it daily. And their numbers grew. Eliphas was a quiet man, who lived his life as a simple farmer, not knowing to read or write, he was chosen by unearthly forces to be the harbinger of doom. One day he simply took his satchel, a piece of bread and his walking stick, and simply wandered into the woods. 10 days later he returned, a changed man. His eyes have changed, his mind, once a blunt weapon, now a keen and sharp dagger. He now had knowledge of things he never knew, initially he tried to hide his newfound knowledge, but his family knew he was different. They forced him to meet the local priest, who although found it bizarre that this simple farmer, now had extensive knowledge of the workings of the world, as well as the fact that he could now read and write, did not have any authority to retain him, but did start to keep an eye on the man. Our “hero” knew he could no longer remain there and one night, he disappeared from his village. Wandering into the night, he began having visions. Visions of a future drenched in blood, darkness and despair, of great demons long ago defeated, that would return to exact revenge on this earthly domain. And thus he took it upon himself, to go out into the world, and warn the people of the Empire. A kind and decent man at first , with strong faith, has now lost all of it, and has begun his descent into madness. People initially regarded him as insane, or perhaps delusional at first, possessed more and more by the phantoms of his mind, he started gathering followers, to prepare for the arrival of doom. Even though he was not deliberately trying to start unrest, the emperor had heard of his prophecy, and decided he was to be captured, held, and hopefully made to repent for his sins, and renounce his foul heretic visions. By now, he had already gathered hundreds of followers, that moved with him from city to city, shielding him from harm, but things started to degenerate, Once a band who helped the man go by in safety, now a small army of deranged, sickening and by far, most of them, extremely stupid followers. This was also perpetrated by the fact that there was no clear leader in this chaos, and Eliphas did not want to lead them. He still had a measure of sanity, but any goodwill was by now gone. Eventually he started leading them, he also started to lose his will, bit by bit, with every crime they committed. Even though it is unclear what happened in the woods that fateful night, and even though he had emerged changed, the demons could not break him. But now, corrupted, he was easy prey. This you might say, is the point in our story, when Eliphas, or the man known as Eliphas has disappeared. All but remains is an empty shell, taken over by demonic essence. By this time, he had a lot of followers, and was marching for the imperial capital. to be continued....
